Missed my opportunity

That's what got me; the mom seemed like she would have been totally cool with it. She's the one that started the conversation. Double-dang :banghead:

I couldn't have gotten her phone number; Mrs. Chemiker would not approve. Unless... I could have hooked her up with one of you all....

I let my bike cool off in the driveway before I put it in the garage. My 3 1/2 year old insists on sitting on the bike every day when I push it into the garage.

Didn't read this thread until after I posted the 3-up picture thread. :tard: Doh!

When I lived in my last apartment, I was outside cleaning the bike up when a woman and her young son came home. She told me that he would make her drive around the parking lot so he could see what bikes were there. As they were walking way, I asked her if he wanted to sit on it. She asked him, and he got really shy, and said no.

...Anyway as Gary Player gets level to us the young boy has his programme in hand and is hesitating and dad says quite loudly and says "Go on, ask him". The young lad says "Excuse Mr Player could I have your autograph?" Gary Player walks on a couple more strides and stops, looks back down the fairway and then says "Come here son". The boy ducks under the ropes and goes over to him and Gary Player signs the programme and then says to the boy "I would just like to thank you for coming out here to see me play, it means a lot to me and if you watch carefully you just might learn something about golf, because I have been doing this quite a long time. A short conversation went on until Mr Player had to play on because some lower down golfer like Bernhard Langer was now on the tee...

That's touching. It's refreshing to see big shots showing some humility.

put on my devious evil look and started giving it the beans...lol...They loved it. Glad I could make their day...lol.

Cheers
Mike

Imagine what they would have felt if you got a decent set of pipes on it then... :Flip: :Flip: :Flip:
Just kiddin' mate.

So, the "devious evil look"... that's just the everyday look??? :spank: :spank:

I've never had to opportunity to "make a kids day", might cruise around the shopping centres and see if I get any takers!!! As long as the cops don't get me for stalking

:)

My experiences tend to be a bit different than yours....when I'm getting off my bike and a kid is paying strict attention, I make it a point to look feminine, especially if it's a little girl watching.

My favorite, one time two summers ago I was at the grocery store picking up some last minute things for dinner and two kids were looking at my bike when I came out. The boy (probably 6 or 7) said "Someday I'm going to have a bike like this!" His sister, maybe a couple years older, said "No, I want one, yours has to be different." He replied that girls don't ride motorcycles. Then, I walked up in my pink cargo pants and riding jacket, and proceeded to get my stuff situated. I looked right at the little girl and her mom (who at that point was wondering what all the commotion was about) and said with a wink, "Never let anyone tell you what you can't do." Her mom had a huge grin on her face as I geared up and I gave a honk as I rode away.

That has to be one of the best stories I've heard.

As for me, I remember being about the age of 4, when I went to my first motorcycle show and some big burly man at the yamaha booth put me on the old FZR600 and said I was a born rider. I do believe my dad laughed at me for 2 days because I was almost as red as the bike. Can't wait till I can have the opportunity to plant some motorcycle seeds in kids. In my area, most are too old and it would just be awkward.

Decent set of pipes might scare them...lol.

The Devious Evil look is the look I get when I tell someone my new tires are all scrubbed in ready to roll.:D
