M4 Exhaust

Awesome! Well as soon as its installed I'll put up some pics of the look and try and get a video of the sound incase your interested to see what its like.
There is also a good sound clip released by M4 thats on utube.
 
Well I got the M4 exhaust installed today.
Was a reasonably easy job, just time consuming since its the first time I've taken the tail apart.
Anyway, no issues fitting it, however I get the feeling every police officer between here and perth will come gunning for me. Its literally that loud.
I took it around the block for a quick ride, I had to go past a primary school during lunch, I'm pretty sure 90% of all the kids in the yard stopped what they where doing to stare, and almost every person I passed gave me dirties.
I was under the impression it came with silencer tips, but either this is the race version or I was wrong :S I checked the sellers page to make sure I hadn't somehow bought something race only, but there was definately no info like that on it.

I really like the exhaust, but have a feeling they don't sell tips that can be added after purchase the way two bro's do. Going to contact the seller and see what they have to say, not really interested in returning it, but I think they might be slightly misleading with their advertisement for the product!
Also going to contact M4 and see about the possibility of getting silencer tips, even if I have to find a local exhaust place who will do a modification for me.
Also know of a local exhaust place who do exhaust mods, might talk to them.

I think the exhaust is pretty cool, but I work nights pretty often and I don't think I'll last long between the police out and about when I finish, and with my neighbors after my blood. Definately need to figure out a solution :D

Will take some pictures tomorrow and chuck them up, might see if I can get a clip with sound too. Leaving them on for a few days for now.
 
Dont worry wolf works nights and no one wants to ride behind him cause his pipes are so deafining your head rings for days afterwards, and he hasnt been done.:Flip:
 
Hahaha that makes me feel a bit better.
I actually got a compliment on them, my mum (yea yea I know) said they sounded great.
The fact she was inside the house, and about 4 rooms, and 8 brick walls away at the time wasn't all that convincing that no one else would mind :D
 
I've got a pair of the M4s. We started a group buy here and on other forum. They are nice cans! I got the platinums with carbon fiber tips. We got a discount through the group buy at pipecity.com

Nice, I always liked the M4s. Concerning which exhaust companies are still out there, Devil was unavailable in the US for a while but you can get them again now; they changed importers or something. The only company that went under as far as I know is Micron but they didn't make anything for the FZ6 anyway so no biggy.

Yea I saw that group buy it seemed to have ended by the time I was looking though :(
How do you find yours sound-wise? Did you get used to the volume? I looked at the M4 site and they said the exhausts are generally about 98dB.
Those pictured look similar to mine, I think I got titanium with cb tip though.
 
I love my M4s now... I must admit it took me a while getting used to these loud pipes. I don't wear any ear plugs and see the loudness as another protective cushion against all cagers not paying attention. Sometimes I'll rev up the engine whilst splitting lanes - as if to say scoot over and make some room, the "6" is coming through!
 
I had a chat with a nearby exhaust place today, and they seem to think they might be able to bring the volume down a bit. It would cost me about $100 though, so I'm going to see what I think next week. Will try and find my camera, took a few pics of them installed, but seem to have left it somewhere!
 
I ended up getting the ends restricted a bit to lower the volume, its now quite a bit quieter and hasn't quite got that same deep rumble, but its still a good note, with a real burble to it.
Will grab some pictures in a minute and post them up. Best part is that the caps I got put in are removable (not easily but still doable).

Main thing I noticed is ALOT less torque especially in first gear down low, its also not as jerky on/off as it used to be. The downside is that the bike feels a little less stable because its not pulling itself along as much, but as I learn to accelerate a bit more it should be fine. The upside however is its more comfortable in those first two gears, and just feels a little less aggressive down low in the revs(obviously not everyones cup of tea)

I went to Foran Motorcycle Exhausts in Gosford West, they where really great, got it done very quickly for me, mentioned the exhaust wasn't packed very well, and added more, gave some good advise generally, and where just really friendly and honest. Would definately recommend them to anyone looking at some custom exhaust work in Sydney! (You'll have to excuse me pushing them a bit, when I find somewhere good I try and spread the word)

I actually saw this advertisement in Rapid magazine, and was interested to see how the price I paid compares to the Australia distributors price.
Their listed price is over double what I paid, including shipping and the exchange rate conversion.
I am all for supporting Australian business, just not being robbed blind by them (when I can help it).

I wonder what they cost?
Its pretty safe to say b3nje909 that even if people do import them its more worthwhile to get them sent here yourself.
Most of the time your paying at least 100% extra (on what you could get from overseas) from an Australia importer unless its something made here or its a really good bargain.

Yeah I;ve done some researching as well..

Locally, the cheapest is 1300... wowzers...

Internationally. Japan appears to be the place, at 1100..

But, I couldnt fidn the websites for China or Malaysia.

From the UK, you save about 100 and they are 1200 ON SPECIAL..

expensive goods..


Add to that the tune up and powercommander,, and yeah.... its an expensive add on for your bike..

would look great tho
