Cycling is my favourite sport & hobby. Yes more than motorbikes.

Annoying that motorbikes & a few work/life issues over the past 4 years have taken me away from it, but thats been changed over the past few months.

Back to the Tour, its fantastic. But if the non-cyclists find it hard to understand/get into, you need to see the one day spring classics (March to April/early May).

Paris-Roubaix & Tour of Flanders are way better races IMO.

When I saw that on Danish television I thought his hip would be in 10 pieces. Extremely lucky our Danish Champion just missed the tarmac!

Regarding an opening for his job... As far as I heard it was a newspaper guy and his motorcyclebuddy (not from their official cameracrew), so they got sent home at the end of the stage. Next year they will cook it down to only 12 bikes (I can't remember fra how many), so unfortunately no new jobs!

If they want to make it interesting, they should eliminate the stages. Just make it one super long endurance race. Riders can ride at their own pace, stopping to sleep whenever them deem necessary.

You already got a race like that in America from coast to coast!
It's crazy... heard that a guy once died cause he fell asleep on his bicycle and crashed!

Nicki Sorensen was lucky he slid on his back along the grass & not the road.

That was very stupid by that bike journalist trying to pass with the peleton completely spread across that narrow road.

Glad to hear they've told them to bugger off from the rest of the race.

I just read an article in the newspaper (since he's belgian, they got to interview him).
He said he's been driving in the tour for over 10 years and was following the instructions of the central command beeing the last in a group of 4 bikers to pass (in the beginning of the clip you can make out the other drivers in front of him). And offcourse that he feels real bad about it and all that stuff.

offcourse there's no telling what exacly happened (in regards to which instructions he got etc.) but this was an accident so i would give the man some credit, we all made mistakes on our bikes with the only difference that he had half of the world looking at him while he did ...

Although I don't really follow it I tend to watch the highlights, and yesterday there was a lot of controversy when a Dutchman, Johnny Hoogerland was knocked off the road into a barbed wire fence, this was caused by a camera car swerving

Despite this he managed to finish and won the King of the mountain for his efforts :thumbup:.

I was watching it as it happened Martin. Horrible. Hoogerland had blood dripping down his legs and back after the crash. He is VERY lucky.

Vinikourov crashed out too - broke his elbow and femur after falling down a steep embankment on a curved section of road.

I think they are all going to appreciate the rest day today

My guess... the speedy psysician wanted to offer him some "medicine".
After a whole year of rumours and investigations + in the middle of what could have been "his" race, this just didn't help him focus! Maybe the punch drained just enough energi and he lost because of it :BLAA:

Glad to see my original prediction of Cavendish winning on the Champs Elysées came true! World's best sprinter!

Congrats to Evans too, who rode an amazing time trial yesterday in Grenoble. He's been training so hard for it, and is a top bloke who thoroughly deserved the win.

This years tour was amazing!
