Lane Splitting Information

Funny just did this this morning on my way to work with my wifey on the back lol. Every time I do it I get and uneasy feeling because I know that it's mostly luck. I try to stay in the 30-35 zone when I'm up front but when I have another bike infront of me I go their speed with atleast 3-4 cars distance just in case. I always see Harley riders splitting at 50+ mph with no gear and a penute helmet. I just shake my head when they go around me so fast lol. By the way I split about 25-35 minutes when I commute to work and have Been doing it for the past 11k miles on the fz.

You are not going to lane split down the 405 at 4pm and having it called a safe action.

This would be arguable to say the least. Having grown up in the LA/OC area and driven the 405 countless times during rush hour in my cage and on my bike, I'd say it's plenty safe to lane-split down this highway if you know what you're doing and aren't blazing it stupidly. Not to mention, you're bike would overheat in those conditions if you didn't keep it going. Dry, hot weather doesn't let the radiator work very well on these bikes.
