:eek:HELP ME PLEASE! SOMEONE PLEEEEASE HELP! :eek:I TRYIED TO PIVIT MY BIKE ON THE KICK STAND WHILE I WAS IN THE GRASS. WHEN I PULLED BACK ON THE BIKE IT FELL ON ME AND NOW I AM STUCK.0:rof: I am sorry I couldn't help myself.

I do a similar thing with my centre stand, but thats even easier. Good post for those that dont know about this.

when i get home i pull in the garage and i have plenty of room (2 car garage) so after the trickle charger is done, the next morning i UN plug the bike do the pivot and right out i go. Saves so much time, even when i go someplace if i can't back up with my feet, i get off and pivot and gone.

Just weldwd a very cracked kick stand on my sons xt350. Had one break years ago on another bike. Hate to think what would happen if the kickstand broke doing one of these manuvers. When I am to old to back the bike out, put me out of my misery.

I agree with Red Wazp. I'd say it's probably OK to do if you know how, are confident and careful, and do it VERY rarely, like only when you absolutely have to.

If it cracked and broke, or if the bolts were to snap, or if it were to swing back toward the rear tire and retract, you'd likely break a leg / both legs, and possibly hyperextend your knees. I'll back mine out or do x-point turns in a tight space, thank you very much!

Again not saying it's not possible to do it and do it relatively safely, just sayin' it seems like a bad idea to me.

I put my left foot on the kickstand, left hand on the left handle grip, and my right hand on the rightr grab rail. "bounce" it a tad, then spin er around. I tought my girlfriend how to do this

Well that was neat but I cannot help but feel a little disapointed and cheated,
I was sort of hoping he was somehow going to spin it 180 by sitting astride it on the sidestand firing the baby up give it full lock and 6000rpm and letting the clutch out in 1st then spin it on the stand. :D

+1 That would've been much sweeter...

My buddy used to do this with his Ninja, I've never tried it though. I always back in to where ever it is I park anyway.

Been doing this for YEARS! Remember to practice it in an open area a couple of times first to get an idea of what you have to do when short on room. Also, have someone that can pick the bike up off of you if spill while trying it out..... been there, done that! GRUMPY

Yup. Where I park at work I really have no options. A 52 point turn or back my bike out 80metres.
Cheers
Mike

OH ya, I always spin it clockwise because that way im spinning in the directoin of the kickstand pushing toward the front tire, IM not sure, but if you do it the other way, if you roll forward, your stand might go up?

I've never seen this before. I couldn't do this in my current garage (single car, too much stuff in it) but maybe I can try it in my driveway.

I can't imagine doing this on blacktop though. I remember with my 920 it was too heavy and parking my bike during the summer on blacktop resulted in me returning to my bike being on it's side with the kickstand buried into the ground.

the first few times i had a small piece of plywood and put that on my grass, in the event of a drop i just had to clean off the grass and the plywood was for the side stand.
