I have now witnessed two accidents where a motorcycle is involved in only two days

Yesterday on the highway: A semi, a car (which had got rammed by the semi) and a motorcycle lying on it's side. I got there before any ambulance or police arrived. Didn't see the rider, so let's hope he's okay.

Today: A whole lane was closed due to an accident in one of two tunnels leading towards the city center. Came closer, and it crawled with police, ambulance personell and two fire trucks. This was obviously a more serious accident than yesterday, and I could see the bike lying in the middle of the closed lane covered in fire resistant foam. My hypothesis is that he was hit by a car while lane splitting. Hopefully everything is relatively fine with the rider.

I wanted to share in order for everyone to keep it safe out there!

I've seen two motorcycle accidents' aftermath while riding, but spread out over more than a year.

One rider was lying down not moving (not good) in the carpool lane, ambulance there. In CA, motorcycles can go in the carpool lane, which may be moving 60 mph next to a few lanes going 10 mph. That can be dangerous, because if someone cuts into the carpool lane, you are on them before you know it. That's probably what happened here.

The other one I saw a couple of weeks ago, I read about in the paper a day later. A lady in a BMW was driving about 100 in heavy traffic (not sure how she was managing that speed as traffic speed was about 40). She rear-ended the rider, while at speed. I saw his bike in a heap on the right, he was sitting up with some people on the left lane. You'd need a pretty heft dose of defensive riding to have avoided someone rear ending you at 100mph.

Each time I see it, it it disturbing.
