A hair-dryer and paraffin does a damn good job too with no damage to the tank. Just do a cm at a time and leave the tank time to cool down in between bits. You don't wanna melt the paint or make it go boom!

K&N drop in filter?

Jamesfz, no this isn't my first sportbike. I had a new Yamaha YZF600r back
in 2001-2002. However, I really don't remember having as much fun as I am
now. Perhaps because it's been so long that I've had a bike that actually
performs in corners, or maybe it's that I live in the mountains and the big
VTX 1800 was just too heavy for spirited riding in the curves...I don't know.
What I do know is that you are correct...I'm having a blast, and I don't much
miss the extra 300+ lbs. of weight. In fact, the bike has about 170 miles on
it now, and I've already bought the cat eliminator pipe, a Power Commander
and the K&N filter. Before the slip on pipes I need to get the HyperPro springs
front and rear to lower the bike just a bit and maybe firm it up in front, even
though it handles like crazeeeeeeee....
