I have looked at both with interest. I am such a skeptic though, are they really using the "off the peg gear" or the proto type?

I can't give an honest answer on that one. I mentioned I found the Independent Video most interesting... part of that is because that video was done a few years after the jeans came on the market. Makes it more likely that the jeans they used came off the shelf and are not "prototype" jeans.

I have a pair of Kevlar lined Jeans, Made by Red Route and bought from Infinity in Clapham.

My friends didnt know they were bike jeans 'til I told them and recently took out the knee pads and hid beer in the knee caps at the Download Rock Festival.

Great looking Jeans and hopefully would save my ass from burning too

Way back when,I left my R100 unexpectedly and suffered a little road rash.I researched for quite a bit to find the toughest leather jacket(settled for hein gericke paris/dakar),I recall reading that jeans lasted 4 feet,not seconds.

If you are looking for riding pants for protection, look at Dragin' Jeans. The $100 price tag is cheap, you can get them at most bike shops, when you figure that road rash is EXPENSIVE to fix. And it HURTS, too! GRUMPY

I have been looking into a good pair of these (friction resistant) jeans for several weeks now. I found this comparison, and learned more about the construction etc.

My choice , for about $150 I went with the Bohn Armor (fully armored) underpant, and wear any color, brand, fit of jean or pant I choose over them. This is for recreational riding I might add. For the track or touring, I beef up my attire appropriately. These under armor pants are cool, comfortable and really let my appearance blend in when I get off the bike.
