I'm too short

Hey everyone I am looking into my second bike graduating frrom a Buell Blast. I am only 5ft tall, and having a hard time finding a bike to fit on. I don't really want to get a harley. I am looking into buying a 2009 FZ6. I'm trying to find ways to lower it. I would be happy with 4inches. Any help with my problem???

the link eric gave will give you some info. to answer your question... i don't think you can safely get the fz6 lowered 4 inches. if you're willing to sink money into a new shock you can get is lowered about an inch and a half... maybe two inches.

i'm not as short as you but i do feel your pain. i have short legs and there are a number of bikes i'd like to look at but know i'll never be able to ride because of how tall the seat is. how do you fit on a ninja 250?

I am heigh impared also. Honda has come out with a CBR250R.

The problem with Ninja 250 and Honda 250 is that it's not really a step up from Buell Blast. Sounds like Donna is ready for something more and it's very unfortunate that the only options out there for ultra low seat height are of the cruiser variety

Yes my blast is actually 500cc prob has more balls then a 250. I am really frustrated are there any of the sport bikes that are easier to lower than others cause they all have pretty much the same seat height

4 inches is a lot for the FZ6. I'm short too, and there just aren't very many options with bikes bigger than 250cc. Not to steer you away from the Yamaha, but if you find it to be way too tall, have you looked at BMWs? They cater to short folks with lowered seats and even factory lowered suspensions. They can get down into the 29 to 30 inch range on several of their models.

My gf is in the same situation, she has a buell blast with low seat. it is the only bike other than some cruisers which neither of us care for. She is 4'11" btw. If you find a option out there for a sporty bike that can be lowered that much without costing a fortune I would like to know too. She even has boots that give her a 2" boost and still is about 1/2" short from flat footing the blast lol.

Have you considered the FZ6R? I believe it's one inch lower. In addition, I find that the Yamaha Comfort Seat is thinner than the stock, which lowers the height of the bike by about a 1/4 inch. There have been some members who have shaved off the foam on their stock seat as a way to lower the bike as well.

Well you could always put a turbocharger on the Buell Blast, then it really would be a Blast..... to Ride!

Hey Donna, I have a 07 FZ6 and I had my seat shaved. They prob took close to 2 inches off and also changed the geometry for a more comfortable fit. If you can get yours lowered and have the seat shaved it might help a lot. + 1 on the boots with a taller sole!

LOL the blast is fun to ride turbocharger would be good. I'm now to a point where I've looked at so many things my head hurts. I am finding that the ducati monster 696 might be the bike for me. Maintenance and repair is so expensive, but I'd rather be safe then sorry

well I researched alot and couldn't get an FZ6 without getting crazy trying to get it low enough. I ended up getting a ducati monster 696. seat height is 30.3 so got the lower seat and fast by ferracci is lowering it 2 inchs. Should be just enough : )

I didnt know they made a low seat. how much does the low seat lower the seat hight? let me know if it works out and i will let the gf know.

the lower seat gets it down almost an inch. I'm hoping it will be enough if not new boots will def do the trick. My bike is red and white. All we need is some nice weekends. It is supposed to come in and be put together by this sat. YEAH

Got my 696 ducati monster. It is still a little too tall. Had 2 inches lowered and lower seat I need a little bit more, so I ordered the Lady Star Daytona boots. I can ride it but am tippy toe right now sorry to be a traitor, but just couldn't do the FZ
