I'm not superstitious but....

These were the KM's on my bike when we stopped for coffee on my weekend ride in the Ardennes:

(I was hoping to get a photo with all 5 sixes) well it was only three sixes
And this is what happened about 45 minutes later:

I skidded on some gravel on a hairpin corner here

After I skidded I ended up riding in the mud on the side of the road, I was quite pleased I had managed to keep it upright but when I tried to get back on the road surface my muddy tyres just slipped from under me
I have nothing myself, and luckily I was fully insured (I had already said to the insurance company that I was going third party from next week onwards, when my policy is up for renewal, phew!)

Now I really feel like an idiot, especially having done this in front of colleagues. One slight thing in my favour was that 2 other people, in other groups went off at the exact same spot, but I still feel like an idjut :banghead:
Anyway just wanted to get this off my chest before the weekend :thumbup:

Estimated damage €1430.

yeah sorry I forgot to say apart from the gear shifter which had to be bent back (luckily one of the guys had a good tool set) it was all cosmetic damage, so I could simply ride on, apart from this incident it was a great weekend.

You're right about the Belgian roads, lots of potholes, lots of roadworks, I don't mean this disrespectfully but I had to laugh when I saw the sign "caution no road markings" where they were working on the road, but after the roadworks there were no road markings anyway

On that specific road it was my own fault, yes there was a lot of grit on the road but It should have set the alarm bells ringing when I saw an access road on that corner (look at the corner using street view), plus I tried to keep to the outside of the road leaving myself no room to manouver when things got slippery. You have these kinds of roads all over the place and it was just my bad judgement that got me into problems

Luckily I'm fully insured, so this accident is only going to cost me 5% of my no claims bonus, but if I have an accident in the future I probably will go naked. I also believe because of the shape of the headlights/fairing the lens of the left headlight fractured, which simply added to the total repair costs.

Oh well $hit happens.

Glad your Ok Martin, I don't think my bike would be worth that much now.
