If you thought the Can-Am Spyder was an atrocity...

Anybody else think it sounded funny? Here's why. Click on the "Superball-motor" and watch the linked video at the bottom-left corner "Film starten". Even if you don't understand German, if you have some basic automotive knowledge you'll understand what's going on. Simply amazing!

I don't believe that the ones in the video are using that motor.

I'll bet a large amount of money that the engine is a BMW two valve K100 engine. There's a couple of giveaways.

1. The square muffler. This was only seen on the two valve K100.

2. K bike instruments.

3. K bike tripleclamp and forks.

4. K bike headlight (K75RT, or K100RT or K100RS)

And that odd whine is perfectly normal engine noise for a K. That's why they were called K whiners. They may plan to use the Superball motor at some point, but what's in there now is pure BMW K series.

EDIT: I just watched the second video. It's the same thing but they cut up a K1200RS this time.

This one is also in production, does have heat, AC, stereo, etc.... all the comforts of a car. Fully auto stabilizers... same company.

I think it's cool. You really can't compare it with the Spider. I was at the a local bike service dept last month and there was a guy here in SD from Colorado. He was getting his oil changed and the service rep told him that they were going to do a flash update on the steering computer(Spyder). That's right, It's got a computer that gets input and either turns or assists in turning the two front wheels. Well it didn't go so well and they toasted his steering computer. They were frantic try to find a work around.

Check at 2.:27 in this video. Notice anything funny? Lets' see who gets a funny feeling about this.....

You're most likely right. But what a cool motor though, right?! I love it when people play around with convention.
