If you read in your manual I believe it tells you to take it the first time to the dealer because your oil has to be change along with the filter. But most importantly you have to have your valves adjusted. Then not to mention you may risk voiding your warranty if you don't let a certified tech adjust the valves and change the oil the first time.

sorry to dig up and old thread, but on my 08 fz, the manual says nothing about adjusting the valves before 26,500 miles.

The 600 miles service, according to the manual sayd to change the oil and filter and lube everything and check over the bike...nothing more.

The misconception about our bikes need a vavle adjustment at 600 miles is a crooked myth drived by greedy dealership service departments who want to charge you for things they dont even do.
