Recently traded a guy for a very rough 1986 FZ600, he didn't take any kind of care of the bike,( let it sit outside for 5 some odd years). Engine removed, which I've tossed and replaced with an 1987 Yamaha Radian motor (basically same motor as I understand, possibly faster 0-60 times but lower top end speed) Installed motor, stator, starter, etc. Have not installed oil cooler lines yet. I understand this is a 12V bike (right?), so I hooked up a car battery and turned the bike over. I have compression (165-170psi per cylinder), I have fuel (my carbs are probably gummed up a bit though as they've been sitting a long while and I'm sure they'll need to be synch'd)I have a good ground, haven't tested the charging system yet but it should still run for a short while off batt. power, or at least start for a sec. So this is where I'm at. It's been an overhaul, and my first bike too so I'm still learning. My question is I've seen some drawings with an air canister coming off the carbs to allow for fuel vapor venting (?). If I don't have this air vent/canister will the bike still start? The plugs suck too so I'm going to go grab some new ones this afternoon. and hey, if any one is around the Auburn, WA area and would like to come hang out and help on the bike, I'd be open to it, I'll provide the beer!
Thanks guys
