High beam issues

Hello everyone!

I have this problem with my 2004 fz6n. I noticed, going into a tunnel, that my highbeam indicator on my instrument cluster was lit. The switch was set to low beam, and after switching back and forth i found that i had to press down the low beam switch a little harder to get it to turn off the high beam.

My question is: Is this a common problem? And does anyone know where i can find replacement parts? Also: what would those parts even be called?

I'm unfortunately a total noob when it comes to motorbikes, and this is my first one. Not being able to take care of it 100% is depressing to me, so i would really appreciate any help you guys would be able to give me!

That handlebar switch, is only available as an entire unit. To install, the tank has to lifted, probably the battery and battery box removed to get to the end of the harness.

If you were are or know someone mechanically inclined, you could likely pull it apart and clean the contacts. You may get by squirting some WD 40 or other product in there.

Wether its a dirty contact, or a spring worn out, you won't know until you spray and /or pull it apart

If you can find someone mechainically inclined, it shouldn't be that hard to pull apart.

BTW, this is the first time, in 5 years I've heard of an issue with that switch. The red kill switch is a common failure point if used often.
