Hi everybody,

thought I'd say hello as I plan on using this forum and getting some useful info from it.

Just bought myself a rather nice 2006 FZ6N at the weekend as my first bike. As such I will probably have a lot of newbie questions

yeah i plan on uing the search function

currently wondering if i should do a full oil change, or just top it up (but not sure what oil is in there), as it seems a little low


also need to give my bike a bit of a polish and clean as i got rained on a couple of times riding it home

Drain it all , rip the old filter out & replace with Motul 7100 synthetic oil :thumbup: It even smooths out the savage 1st to 2nd gear change

Cleaning will become a regular occurrence :BLAA:
I'd recommend changing the oil and filter, just so you know what's in it, and when it was last changed :thumbup:

is the yamalube oil no good then?


my other question is about fitting a 12V socket, would under the seat be the best place considering i have no fairing?


just need to get used to this forum, should help me pass the time while i'm at work

Motul 5100 or 7100 are recommended oils. I wouldn't use Yamalube or any Yamaha products.

As for the 12V socket, since you have the N version, you can attach to the dash, but make sure it's a waterproof one :thumbup:

Nice one Greg,you were wise enough to get the high power colour.
As everyone (except the haters) will tell you,its worth 5 HP more and a 5 degree lean angle over the other colours :thumbup:

yes the black definitely makes it go faster, something to do with electromagnetic rays i think

gave the downpipes a bit of a polish tonight, so it looks a bit shinier

also used some ultra deep shine on the tank, it doubles as a spare mirror now
