Hello.. I wanted to change the stock big orange indicators today with some LED Oxford ones but I ran into problems.. Im not sure what exactly I did but it stopped working (only the right front one .. all the others work fine.) I tried to put it back together with the stock one but still doesn't work anymore..

Im ataching pictures of the indicator .. they come with some resistor aswell but im not sure if i need one... the stock bulbs are 10W ... I also checked the fuses on the throttle side under the seat...neither seemed blown... Please help . Thanks!

You need the resistors to provide some load on the circuit, otherwise they will flash too fast. The other option is to switch out the module that controls this. I don't actually know about it on the FZ6 but I swapped it out on my wife's SV650. For $11 it was a much more elegant solution than resistors.

One other issue is that most aftermarket signals will be 2-wire. Our stock indicators have 3 wires because they also work as running lights (on the front). Check to make sure you hooked up the correct wires.

:welcome:to our great forum!
LEDs are polarity specific so you may have the wires reversed on that indicator. Was the unit working? I'm assuming the rear indicator on that same side operates and blinks at the same rate as the others. You may even have a failed indicator assembly. Can you apply 12 volts DC to the unit by itself? Someone may have wired that unit reverse polarity. It won't harm the unit running it reversed. It just won't conduct and light. So try it reversed polarity. :)

The stock indicator has a black and green wire.. I was trying to hook those with the resistor provided by them but then I've read that if your bulb was 10W you don't need it.. However.. the wires that come from the after market oxford indicator has a Black and Red wire... I tried to put Black to Black and Red to Green.. nothing worked.. I tried them the other way around too.. is it possible I fried something by trying out the wires? I understand that you need a relay to regulate the flash rate but even without one it should of worked I guess... I wanted to just assamble back the stock one and it wasan't working anymore. Also.. On rear I don't have LEDs.. They;re just normal bulbs Only those front ones are LED's..

Does the back/rear directional light work on the same side of the bike that has the failed light? Also you can measure the voltage or use a test light to see if the flasher is providing voltage to wires in question? Turn the signal on and see if there is voltage present. The best way is to use an electronic flasher that will work with stock lights or any combination of LEDs instead of the load resistors. Make sure you do not have the load resistor wired in series. The load resistor on this must be wired in parallel across the circuit. You can test the light by attaching it to a 12 vdc car or bike battery. :)

The rear indicator on the same side Works as normal .. All 3 indicators work besides the one in question.. so Im sure I fried something ... I also checked it took the plug out from the one that works and pluged in the wires from the one in question and nothing comes out of them.. so Im sure no signal comes on that wires... did I fried something on that relay for the front one or ... ... I wonder if something's fried should the rest still work? :( Frustrating a bit... Thanks for the help !

Either the LED indicator is faulty or the wire near the indicator is faulty. Apply 12vdc to the indicator to see if it will light or put a volt meter or put the flasher on and use test light/meter at the wires to see if there is voltage. If the rest of the lamps are working you probably have not fried anything.

I don't think the LEDs are faulty.. but I even wanted to give up on them and just put back the stock and it's not working anymore.. so im sure I fried something.. Probably I need a new indicating relay or something I assume... I took the lead from the front indicator that works and plugged it into the one in question and It didn't work.. and that one is tested working on the other side.. so i`m sure nothing comes on that wires anymore.. what should I change to fix it if you know? Thanks!

The relay is probably fine. I looks like you've lost continuity in the wire that feeds that indicator. If the 3 remaining lights work then the flasher relay and fuses are good. If you can, use an ohm meter to test the black wire. It should show continuity to ground using the negative terminal on the battery or a bare bolt on the engine or chassis. It sounds like you have a broken wire. If it were a burned wire I would be very surprised because this circuit is fuse protected. It sounds like there is a physically broken wire. :)
