I'm a new rider with just over 2 months of riding experience. I bought my first bike, 2009 Ninja 500 brand new two months ago and logged 1000 miles on it. About a week ago I had a little mishap. I was trying to put the kickstand down, it must have popped back up, and the bike fell on me to the left. I had frame sliders and minimal damage was done. Later that day I went riding and something just didn't feel right. I think it was in my head, but I was just not comfortable riding this bike anymore, so I rode to the dealer and asked about the FZ6, which I wanted to buy NEXT year.
So anyway, I walked out with a brand new black 2009 FZ6 after trading in my Ninja. Price paid OTD was $4900 including first 600 miles service.
I have a few questions which may or not have been answered before, so sorry in advanced.
1. I noticed my seat looked different than the one shown on the yamaha website. I thought I was supposed to get the upgraded version, but I think now that's only for the Europians.
2. I've already ordered T-Rex frame sliders. Anyone have these and what are your experience with them? I'm only concerned about bike tipping over, not actually in a crash.
3. Can you ride with your helmet on the helmet lock? I notice most people riding like that, but their helmet is locked inside the seat and sit up higher.
So far I have 80 miles on the FZ6. I can feel the difference in power between FZ6 and the Ninja. I wish I had bought the FZ6 as my first bike. Now I am looking into mods....
