Headlight mod + heated grips?

Hi,

I'm new to FZ6 ownership (4 whole days now). I've ordered a set of Oxford heated grips and I was also thinking about the dual headlight mod.

What I wondered was if the combined load on the alternator would be ok? Has anyone successfully done this?

You should be ok. I've done BD 43's headlight mod and I have had a Gerbings heated jacket liner for 2 years with no problems. But I think I'm at my limit. Just keep your rpm's up. When I ride in town I turn my jacket off. Your grips might not pull the watts the liner would. Hope that helps.

My bikes previous owner did the headlight mod. I put heated grips on last winter. No probs!

Just a word of warning the Oxford hot grips are said to automatically turn off if it starts to drain battery (left on). this did not work with my set :spank:. I've had to push start my bike a couple of times because of it.

I have a set of Oxford heaters that I tried on my FZ but did not really like them. I did like the bigger grip profile but they seemed to get too hot and I was always turning them on and off. I now have installed the Symtec heaters which I have on several other bikes and just love them. No need to take them on and off. :thumbup:

A friend of mine has the Oxford Sport heated grips and they don't have any greater profile that the standard ones. Mine should be delivered today, so I'll make a judgement call once I see them.
