Just been washing the bike when this little thing fell out from around the top of the engine, anyone know where it should belong? I don't like the idea of loose bits on my bike!

(next to a cm rule for some idea of scale)

--Collar! It's a metal collar; most likely connected to your FRONT MUDGUARD. I'd check your front fairings and mudguard for any loose or missing bolts.

Here's an idea of where it could've came from:

Check number 2 or 54 or whatever.

striped down the front end of mine today for a good clean. looks exactly like the bush from the bottom of the radiator cover when i took that all off
