Great ride home!

So today I'm riding home from work and as usual there are a couple bikes along the way and I toss up the "wave". I see another bike approaching and as I think about waving he sits up and uses his left hand to pat the top of his helmet three or four times. I give him the thumbs up and smile.

Sure enough, about 1/2 mile up there is a state trooper on the side of the road out of sight. :rockon:

Today I didn't need the heads up (not that I ever go over the speed limit) but it was just awesome to see that communication from another rider and understand exactly what he was talking about. Thats happened to me a couple times and each time I feel the love for this biking community.

That's awesome! About a year ago I gave and received the signal in the same day and thought that was pretty cool.

I got a bunch of those signals as I was riding last weekend. Sure enough, up ahead was a motorcycle cop writing someone a ticket. He kind of stared at me as I rode by, making me feel uncomfortable. Anyway, I think it's great that we give each other due warning in such situations.

Wow, glad i read this post, if somebody had tapped their helmet at me previous to this i would probably found an excuse to get offended or just been confused... learn something every day :thumbup: Only signal i really know is the tap the gas cap for "need gas" and the bent finger for "time to drain the main vein". can add one to by dictionary of biker signals now! Also more on subject I do marvel at the respect bikers have for each other and communication between complete strangers just because they share a common interest, it is great!

I don't think that there is a particular biker signal language ..

In every country it's different, but you always get the idea

For example, here in Greece, the signal that there is a trooper writing tickets ahead is a double tap on the high beams twice! In general, I believe that whenever somebody acts out of the ordinary, (high beam, hand signals etc) he tries to tell you something meaningful...

I was actually given the "cops ahead" helmet tap from a sport bike rider while in my sport car on the Tail of the Dragon...that was pretty cool.

I've done my duty and warned other riders of the same...

When I'm in my cage I also do the high beam warning to select other oncoming cagers.

Once I had just passed a speed trap in a 25mph zone and this woman coming at me CLEARLY saw me high beam her 3 times...and went by me with an offended look on her face (speeding and NO brake lights in my rearview). I had to laugh when I saw the cop pull out behind her and flip on his lights. Can't help stupid.
