The Great Destroyer
Bought the bike last week, finally got here today and I picked it up on lunch. Here are some preliminary thoughts in case anyone cares or can associate:
- Wow this thing is really upright, and the bars are high. It's almost like a scooter!
- *vroom down the straightaway next to the dealership* Definitely faster than a scooter.
- Sounds awesome, with a dash of remote control car on launch.
- 30 minutes of riding and my knees feel great, although for some reason I'm sliding forward and crowding my junk.
- I think I hear debri pinging off of the exhaust. Speaking of which, I smell burning plastic and hot metal.
- It's so, so smooth. Acceleration is smooth, shifting is smooth, braking is smooth.
- Steering feels... soft? compared to my GS500. That was a lot easier to throw around. This takes more weight and pressure on the bars.
- Picked up the wheel when I decided to push it going from first to second. Not used to that amount of power ... but it feels good.
- She looks damn sexy in black.
Having a blast, when I came home tonight I had my girlfriend put her gear on and we took it out on the relatively sparse roads around here. She did really well, and it was the first time either of us has been two-up so all things considered, effing fantastic day!
I've got a long day tomorrow including some city riding, looking forward to seeing how it holds up there. I put about 100 miles on it today so the tires should be worn in enough to be confident in my grip through the city.
