What you should do is get a police report to make this official, thus if she doesn't pay up, you can take her to court and/or get your insurance to cover it under comprehensive. Sorry to hear about the situation, but as others have said, you are better off now. I've been in a similar situation about the ultimatum re: ex's. Any girl who does something like that is worth kicking to the curb.

you got it easy.. when the now x-girlfriend and i broke up.. i had left to visit a friend for a few days.. and when i came back home (we shard a condo that i had bought, in my name only) she had moved out, not told me, and took just about everything.. left my my tv, stereo, ps3, computer, and a few other things like kitchen stuff... for a while I even thought she took those little trays to make ice, but later found them in the cabnit above the fridge.. crazziness...
