Well, since you asked, the FZ6 by a long shot and I do own both.

How is that even possible? I have not done a single bit of maintenance on my bike in the year i have it. Of course I have a service contract but still only 2 services and then only cause the factory warranty required it.

Holy Cr**! Thats pretty close. The bikes cost less than 1G down there and they get incredible mileage....when they dont have 4 times the load limit on them

I have to admit, I almost rented one to get my riding jones but the roads are spine killers down there.

Well, it's belt drive and never requires lube nor is there any relative stretch. I lube and check the FZ6 chain every 500 miles so I have a shot at extended chain life. The FZ6 will require a check and adjust on the valves at 26,000 miles where the Sporty never requires an adjustment. Then tars on the FZ6 wish they could go as long as the tires on the Sporty and they are both built by Continental. The FZ6 on its best day could never match the fuel economy of the 1200 Sporty although it will get within a factor of 3mpg. Please note, neither of the bikes requires what I would consider excessive maintenance and both have been recalled or had service bulletins twice. I am actually very happy with them both as they have both been awesome machines.
