So, Missouri has finally buckled down and decided to give us some great riding weather. I didn't have class Tuesday morning so I was going to meet up with another fz6 rider and go for ride on some twistys.

I met up with the guy and I am 22, and this guy is like mid 30s or so and he was pretty nice, sure did have a mouth on him though.

We got on one of our highways 67 near Farmington, Missouri and suddenly he slows down right next to me and pops a goshdamn wheelie right next to me on a stock fz6 (NO MODS AT ALL) doing 70mph for about 1 mile. I admit it was cool but, I had no idea he could do that, I wish he mentioned it to me before got on the road... I have never seen anyone ride a wheelie for a mile on an fz6, he is doing stand ups and sit downs.

After he scared the hell out of me, performing his wheelie right next to me, we hit some nice back roads and we are cruising pretty fast around 50mph+ on all tight turns and roads.

FOR ALL THOSE WHO THINK THEY ARE TOO BIG FOR FZ6,,, BULL$Pit! (However, I understand riders want more power)

It wasnt the fact that he was 220lbs, it was the fact he was wheeling the fz6 like its a toy!

Im still amazed he was performing wheelies like nothing on his stock fz6, but I really never pictured anyone really doing it until I saw this guy doing it.

He was like "Geoff, its your turn, pop that thing up!" I looked at him and and just smiled and said HELL NO, my bike likes its wheels on the ground. Its not a damn unicycle lol. Considering I just did the mods on my bike a couple months ago, I am definitely never going to try it unless, UNLESS I get a spare junker to mess with and knee armor.

I know this isn't much input for anything but this really rattled my cage. Whether for the good or bad I don't know, but it was pretty crazy for me.

That sort of thing is exactly why anyone on a bike is always responsible to ride their own ride...... Obviously, he was comfortable with doing the wheelies, and seems pretty proficient. 90 odd HP is plenty to get the wheel 'up'.... it's just not good for much, by my view.

But that's the strength..... we all do things differently for different reasons, and can learn from each other's experience.

I am very happy you did not push your limits!! Your bike is probably happy, too! :thumbup:

I had a similar experience also. I have a friend/ex friend who kept wanting me to go riding with him. I always new he was crazy but not to the extent I was about to find out. We went on a short ride a dusk. It was getting dark and we are returning and on a two lane road pulls up a wheelie and does it for a mile or so. Scared the **** out of me. After we pulled over to turn around I tell him he is crazy and so he proceeds to do more stunts the rest of the way home. Lying on his back steering with his feet, hanging both feet off the same side and sliding his feet next to the bike doing 40-50 mph. He must have big balls to do that stuff at night or any time for that matter. He is an accident waiting to happen. Needless to say I don't ride or see him anymore. I think I heard he was in Jail. I guess his karma has cought up to him. :spank:

I dont really have much time for people who stunt on public roads...But i suppose it takes all types, and there are those who will do so no matter what.

Yes your buddy had some advanced riding skills, but there is a place...this was not it...

I ride with a lot of very experienced riders, who can all ride very well, and a couple of them like to ride pretty quick at times, but none of them stunt on public roads...

It's a bit like Sports riders who like to use all the road, when in the Twisties...Why? Just asking for trouble...

By all means, ride hard, but keep the risk factor at a sensible level.

Anyway, i have enough trouble keeping my bike rubber side down, without doing stuff that's gonna make my chances of wrecking the bike i love to ride, much higher!

If you wanna do that stuff, get to a track, or a Motorsport complex!

I am very impressed with the skill level these guys have, but it is a pet peeve of mine to see them out on public roads, with the general public at risk of their mistakes. I love going to watch them do their stunts on parking lots, etc. Amazing what someone can do with a motorcycle!
