Some of you will have noticed that recently Vegas rider has been strongly advocating the use of the horn.

I am in full agreement with him as a great aid to defensive riding.
This morning going to work a fella in a battered old transit (we call them White Van Man") was trying to pull across me into my lane. He looked me in the eye and just floored it. at this time my front wheel was about 3 feet from him and he nearly took me out.
Normally I would have just :Flip: him off and carried on. Alas my presence of mind was not sound after being up all night playing poker (I mean looking after the children). I stopped in his lane amongst the busy traffic. He had no where to go and I just sat on the horn for about 30 seconds whilst looking at him and indicating he was blind. Oh the satisfaction I got as people looked at the idiot and he started to put his hand up in a " I am sorry mate, didn't see ya" kind of way.
So from this day on if I need to use the horn I will in fact be "DOING The "Vegas" I would encourage you to do the same.

I installed one of the high-dB horns on my bike a few months ago, and it may have been a lifesaver already. Per VR's suggestions I find myself covering my horn button every time there's an iffy situation, great habit to get into. :thumbup:

I have been toying with the idea of putting a set of those 12V air horns on my bike behind the fairing, i think i saw them at Advanced Autoparts. My boss has a set on his polaris ranger they are super loud.

Glad that everyone is getting use to using their horn. Like Botch said, it's a good habit to start covering your horn in "iffy" situations, as well as covering your brakes. As Nelly said, the cager ended up waving his hand up in the air....let the driver know and the people around them that they are about to or just screwed up.

Am I deaf or ? While riding freeway at about 75 I hit the horn to try to get a cager idiot to notice me. Nothing happened - I don't hear the horn! Hit it again - nothing. Slowed down to 50 mph a bit later and tried it again. I hear this wimpy little "bleeep". I can't believe the OEM horn is this weak - or is it damaged?

I accidentally gave some cagers a "vegas" today. I hit the horn with my elbow, resting my arm across the tank the driver looked back at me really quick with the whole "what did I do" look, I just waved at him and rode by.:rof:

Replacing the stock horn was my very first Mod. But from your post, it sounds like it's not working correctly. Get it fixed or buy a new one ASAP!

My stock horn is actually fine. I have used it at 70mph and it blasts out.
Air horns would be better but stock for me allows quite a nice "Vegas"

I've been "Vegasing" here and there and more often lately, especially after my last encounter with a cager in a hurry to get out of work. He tried his luck with me twice, I nearly got of my bike and fed him my "Vegas" lol.

I really raised my eyebrows at the low, low price Autozone charges for the "Big Boy" horn (same as Stebel). It's cheaper than even at Harbor Freight Tools. I've found that Autozone is a good place for good prices.

Nar, something is wrong there. My horn is twice as loud than the horn on my old SV650.

I hit the horn last night on a cage on my Ride Night...in my head I so happy to be out riding, I just kept singing

ps: yes, sometimes I dance on my bike while riding. Some guy yelled at me last night "Learn to ride!" cuz I had been doin' the dance....I wasn't weavin', stayed on my line in my lane...just havin' fun...I guess he was jealous :thumbup:

I remember when i was getting my license they said to not use the horn much...I always have used it. Thats what its there for. In a car you dont honk, you might just get a scratch or dent, that option is no valid on 2 wheels, so i always honk in "iffy" situations I totally agree with VEGASRIDER :thumbup:

I had an old school motor driven "OOGA!" horn on my previous truck. I think I want to install one on the Fazer.
