FZ6S 'died' under acceleration

Hi All,
The other day, I turned left at an intersection and basically gave it all it had in 1st. It started to lift, but then at about (guessing) 9000 rpm the whole bike died. The dash went blank (except for the clock).

I turned the ingnition key on/off and played with the kill switch too. Whatever I did seemed to fix the problem. To me, it seemed like the ingnition turned off, as the dash looked like it is when the bike is turned off.

My bike is a 2004/5 Fz6S. Anyone else experienced this before?

I had a similar issue with my bike too (fz6 naked '05)

In my case, the problem was a corroded contact within the killswitch.

I had to disassemble it, find the contact (it's a small metal plate), rub and clean it with contact spray and put a new metal coating and it worked like new ...

Did you use the kill switch often to turn off the bike?

If yes, that's apparently the problem ..

I used to turn off the bike this way, but not anymore .. It destroys the killswitch mechanism over time.. I turn the key directly.

Thakns for your reply. No, I normally use the key, but I'm the second owner. I'll take it apart and see what is in there.

You can make a small jumper and complete the circuit at the wires coming from the Kill switch. It's just a logic signal. This will eliminate the switch and if she behaves you can be pretty sure it's the switch.

Seems to happen very often on the forum. A lot of folks with bad kill switches.
