Fz6 will not start

Hi all,

I have my 2004 FZ6 which I put in the Garage back in November.
It wont run properly now, it starts and runs for 5-10 seconds, then cuts out.
it sounds like its not getting enough fuel. When it is running I have tried to open the throttle up which it just cuts the engine straight away.
I have done the following;
Drained the fuel and put clean new stuff in, along with a fuel system cleaner.
It has a brand New battery.
I have taken out the fuel filter / gauze cleaned it and put it back in.
Taken the Fuel line from the injectors out and fuel IS getting to the injectors.
You can hear the fuel pump and it sounds like normal.

I am stuck what else could i try. Help please.

Are you getting any diagnostic codes coming up? Have you ran the diagnostics?

2004/2005/2006 Diag mode
To enter diagnostics mode, you have to press and hold SELECT + RESET, then turn the key and keep them pressed for 8 more seconds.

It'll appear dIAg on the display, you can release them now. Afterwards use select to read the various codes.



To leave the dIAG mode, simply turn the key counter clockwise.

Thanks for the quick reply, I forgot about that I will find the paper with all the codes on it so i can try and work it out. I will post my finding tomorrow evening after work. in the mean time any more ideas?

You sound like you're experiencing a lean condition. It will idle but when you give it throttle it dies because there is not enough fuel added. This could be because there is garbage in the fuel line and/or injectors. There may be a fuel pump failure. The fuel pump has a filter. The TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)may have failed.

If there was a code thrown by the ECU you should see that error code on your readout. Here's some info to help you test the TPS.

As you do the TPS test, slowly open the throttle and the numbers should change without bouncing or skipping numbers. Smooth change from lowest reading to the maximum reading.
