FZ6 or Fz1

Just wondering who wishes they would have gotten the FZ1. I am getting a bike in the spring and I am mixed on the FZ6 and the FZ1. Any feedback would be of great help on my decision.

I'm glad that I have the FZ6. Sure the FZ1 has more horsepower, but the FZ6 has more than enough power than I will ever need. Plus it has better fuel economy than the FZ1. That's just a couple of things that I considered when I made my purchase.

Prior to getting the FZ6 I looked into the FZ1 too.

1. It seems that FZ1 lacks low to mid range torque. People have tried fixing that by modifying the butterflies. it actually looks like a fairly easy mod though.

2. Keep in mind that FZ1 will result in higher insurance premiums.

I think FZ1 had adjustable suspension as far as I remember.


For me, FZ6 was kind of a no brainier. It has more than enough power to keep you carving city streets

and

cheaper insurance.


For longer touring I would get the the FZ1, though. It also depends how much would the buzziness of the FZ6 motor bother you when you are cruising at above 80 mph.

Compared to what? Other liter bikes.. sure, but not compared to FZ6. It pulls harder (MUCH harder) than FZ6 at any RPM.

Not necessarily true. My rate went DOWN when I got FZ1.. no idea why.

Correct. Fork is fully adjustable. Rear has preload and rebound.

I think it all depends on what you are looking for? Are you looking for a 1st bike? Had many bikes but looking for something different? Have a "starter" bike but wanting to upgrade? Etc etc etc

Interesting. When I checked my quotes it was higher. It probably depends on you location too. so yeah YMMV

i just bought my FZ6 a few months ago and have already 3k on it since. mods are two bros, puig racing windscreen, yamaha gel comfort seat and a couple of lil things. But I primarily looked at gettin a fz1 or an fz6. for sure wanted a 07 and newer fz6 but i did try old gen and new gen fz1's. Ive owned a few bikes including a cbr600rr before which was fast enough. to me the Fz1 was crazy fast, the fz6 is plenty. And mainly I commute 30-100 miles daily which led to the ultimate question..which is more comfortable and has a good pwerband and milage? FZ6 all day!

I admit i was initially looking for an Fz1. At the end of the day the lower purchase price, better mpg, and less tire wear (my gsxr 1000 ate rears) sold me. Absolutely no regrets. Very pleased with my fz6
