fuel tank

please can someone help,im not sure how to disconnect the fuel pipe from the tank,i don't want to break it,thanks..

Oh man. This isn't the easiest thing to do with out the tool. You might want to go to auto zone and rent it. They are simple. All of the electrical is easy, but there is a little white collar tool that is to be used for the fuel line. The way that it works is by pushing be these two metal tabs that hold the collar on to the hard plastic line coming from the tank. To do it with out this tool means that you would need to relatively small screw drivers.
So start by pushing the connection tighter together as if you are connecting it. While these are as connected as they can be stick the two screw drivers into the coupling and push these two tabs back. With the tabs depressed (leaving the screw drivers depressing them) the line should be able to be separated. Watch out though. Once these are separated gas will start to leak if the tank isn't empty.

Hope this helps. Good luck mate
(the little collar tool really helps. It simply fits snug around the line and pushes back the tabs for you when it is in place.)

thanks mate,it does help, thought they might have some gadget for this.is it easier to remove the fuel pipe from the injection end.thanks again.

I've always just done the two screwdriver trick, takes maybe 30 seconds to get it all figured out!

Will be taking the tank right off the bike and the fuel pump out to fix an internal vent tube leak, probably this Tuesday.
