Hi All,

Can someone tell me on an 1988 FZ600 which way is the main tank and which is reserve when you turn the knob on the pet****? I'm assuming turned all the way to the right is reserve, halfway left is main and all the way left is shut off?

I ask because I think the pet**** on my FZ is from somewhere else as the knob to change the tank doesn't seem to be the correct one.

Thanks!

EDIT - I guess the site doesn't like the word "c0ck" in the message. LOL.

A close up picture might help or better yet, remove the valve hose when the fuel tank is low and see when the fuel shuts off (catch it with a large bucket/etc). If its below the higher regular intake tube, nothing should come out. Flipping the lever to another position will find reserve. The middle usually is off...

Reserve was to the rear on my Katana. It was like that on most bikes I've seen too. Make sure your petc*ck actually works. When I bought mine, it leaked all the time. It had a vacuum driven off position, so it should be automatically off whenever the engine wasn't running. Dunno if yours is like that.

My 05 Kawasaki KLR 250, the large end of the knob
down was normal riding,
horizontal was off,
the large end up was reserve, no vacuum either.

The KLR 650 is the same but does use vacuum..

If not vacuum operated, you cold also pull the valve and blow thru each orifice after switching the lever... Kinda of a PIA but would work...

on the fz 600 the pet c0ck :)
is reserve up position ,
Prime middle position¨( for when u run outta gas this primes the carbs) and
on down poosition
