Hi All
This is my first post, so hello to all and thanks for checking out my 'issue' - I need help!
I’m looking for some advice. I've been riding for just under a year and have been on a 06 FZ6 - until last week! I hit a deer full on doing 60 and its made a real mess of things! My insurance doesn't cover me either.
The bike stayed upright which was a bit of a miracle, but there are a lot of bits to replace. Its on the cusp of being a dustbin job, but I think I'm going to get the parts as cheap as possible and do as much as possible myself.
1 - The forks are bent at the yoke so I'm going to need new top legs, but I think I can fit them if they're cheap enough.
2 - The fairings disintegrated, along with the lower mud guard. I think these might have to be official Yamaha bits.
3 - The screw fittings are all snapped from the light unit, but the unit itself is in 1 piece. I think I can get the rear part of the unit under a separate part number?
4 - The radiator pierced itself on the engine.
5 – There’s some knocking from the head bearing.
That’s about it, but I think there might be a couple of dents in the tank where my nuts hit it, I didn't have time to break so it wasn't the most comfortable experience!
If anyone has been through the same kind of rebuild or has any advice about where to get parts, please let me know. Mentally I'm thankful to be here, but financially I'm ultimately pissed off.
