During summer we typically ride 90-100 plus for short periods crossing sections of desert after coming out of higher cooler elevations in the mountains.
I've suffered from heat exhaustion while riding in full leathers on Palomar mountain in 80 + deg. I was playing hard on the mountain, up n down South Grade road. Luckily I had already started down the mountain before it started to hit me and I made it to an Indian reservation gas station and store where I cooled off and drank much needed cold water.
Here the air is dryer and you can cool quickly but you have to hydrate. Hydration is paramount here. I grew up back east so I also know how the humidity makes it hard for your sweat to evaporate and cool you off. I'd rather be in desert 100 plus than 80 deg. humid any day but with out hydration in the desert you can be done in a very short time. In either environment hydration is a first consideration.
I now have Kevlar GP2 air mesh pants for summer and what a difference in air flow!
Motoport (they also make jackets) is the only company in the US that makes this stuff.
Motoport Ask for Wayne Boyer. I liked doing business with him and he took care of all my needs. This is the real deal and not the Kevlar they put in jeans. This is armored gear and the mesh Kevlar has 10 times the abrasion resistance that leather does.
The surfaces I fear most in a slide are the freeways here. They are concrete and have these surface rain grooves to get rid of water. The grooves are a horror to go down on so wearing jeans is not an option for me.
Also this gear lasts and is washable!
I always mention this gear because even if I didn't use it this is the most protective and worth the money considering the strength, longevity and most importantly the protection and performance it will give you!
