Anybody make them? - can only find R6 applications. I am trying to shed the cast boat anchors and save about 10lbs....

Forged Wheels for the FZ6

check out the compatibility chart. I think R6 and FZ6 wheels are the same..or is it R6S? I don't remeber

And for you non believers, a 10lb. loss in un-sprung weight (such as wheels) will make a bigger difference in feel and handling than a 18lb in "sprung" weight.

Forged? I've never heard of a forged wheel. Can you elaborate?
If you want lightweight wheels, go with carbon fiber or good old fashioned spokes.

I am at 150 and 5'11...if I go on a diet I might as well not ride the bike at all and just watch ;-)
Those fitments list the R6 - called and not the Fz6 - chain sprocket won't work - so I was told...
Forged is one piece (not cast) light, strong, light and light.
Yes unsprung is the key to handling...

I understand if your goal is to have sick looking wheels to show off, but what will 10lb of unsprung weight saving (at around $200/pound) give you on the FZ?
IMO, if you want better handling, get better suspension (front and rear) and rubber... that will make a bigger difference for cheaper imho.

I have Racetech forks and Ohlins in the rear - suspsension is fine, rubber is fine. Looking to reduce unsprung weight - 10lbs is alot, it effects everything, acceleration and handling.
Could care less what the wheels look like.

Are you trying to shave some 1/10 of a second on your local track, or are you ready to spend $2k+ (my guess) just to be half a second faster on your local twisty road? I am asking because if you're spending thousands of dollars trying to make the FZ a bit faster and better handling, you may want to look at other bikes out there. The FZ is a sport tourer with a chassis that was designed for sport touring. You can spend thousands of dollars on suspension and forged wheels, you'll still only have a sport tourer...

I think it would be pretty cool. I'd imagine turn in and the wheels ability to react to bumps would improve quite a bit.
I thought of doing this, but seroiusly, it's a lot of coin, for not that much advantage...anyway, the FZ6 wheels are pretty light anyway....and yes they are the same as the R6 wheels....right up till now i think.
Still would love to see someone do this...i say go for it if you have a spare $3000 lying around.

About $2,000 or so from Hardracing.com.

For a pair, still a lot of money.
I bought my track bike for less than that... I mean, put it into perspective!! If you're really trying to go fast, spend $2k in trackdays (15 of them!!!), and I guarantee you'll be quicker after that than after putting some forged wheels on your FZ. My opinion only again of course.
The last guy I know who put forged Marchesini wheels on his R1 (i.e. Mani) mentioned he loved how they looked and he did feel a small difference when riding, but he sold them in a hurry after a small crash in the canyons... $3500 for wheels... I mean unless you're Rossi trying to shave one 1/10 of a second around a track, it's not worth it to me...

Understood - its like this. I don't want a track bike, I will never get rid of this bike I just want slightly better handling for street riding and track days - no 1/10s to shave, no podium finishes etc.
My bike has about 10k on it, rode it cross country, my first bike etc. Probably never get another bike, just want this bike to handle as best as it can.
Its not an investment, its not a need, its a like to have. I guess I was just trying to determine via this thread if there were wheels out there to be had - sounds like there are - thanks.

$2k for forged wheels will give you "slightly better handling" indeed.
So now that you know they exist, are you going to buy them?

I see a lot of mods on this forum that seem like a lot of money for small reward (Solo seat for example)
If you want to spend your money on some forged wheels - go for it. It's your money (it is your money, right?)
