Got the new AMCN magazine today (great magazine - you should all buy it!) - had an artists impression of the new FZ8N.

Personally, I think it's hot! :rockon:

Actually thats a slightly redone version of already produced FZ8 impressions from European magazines that have been posted in this thread, its just updated to reflect the GENUINE picture given out by Yamaha of the light/forks.
Just my opinion but the magazines should leave the motorcycle production to the motorcycle companies and stick to providing something at least slightly useful/real.
That being said I'm not a fan of any of the artists impressions for various reasons.

I agree, but this is actually a Yamaha released picture. Just a teaser from them. I'm sure they'll make changes before they release the bike.

They've released it under the heading "BE PREPARED".

From what I know only the headlight picture is an official release, everything else is an artists rendering. Thats the tiny little picture with the same headlight shown above the actual bike picture.

seems like they have take a pic of an r6 and then another pic of an R1 ( for the forks ) from a diff angle and mated the 2

The big pic looks very FZ1 IMHO......i just hope Yamaha put decent, adjustable suspension, and brakes on the FZ8 when it comes out....

The motor will be great...that's a given, it's a Yamaha!

Any known timeframes on the release of the FZ8? It looks good. Gives the Z750 a good run for it's look, and to be honest the Z750 is really growing on me, more so than the FZ6n.

The FZ8 will still be a budget bike.
Don't expect R6 suspension or radial brakes ...

In Raw lines it will be +- the same as the FZ6 with upsd forks, maybe adjustable preload.

They have to compete against the Z750 ... they can't do that if the bike is 2000 dollars/euro's more expensive.

My bet is the opposite... expect USD forks, radial brakes, better shock than the FZ6, maybe a v-twin (if we're lucky )... I think Yamaha's going all out on this one to compete with the Triples/Duc SFighter/Z750/Shiver etc... they already have the XJ as budget 600...

I'm with Wavex on this one, its very doubtful it will be the same budget bike as the FZ6 when the XJ6 is the new replacement bike for that catagory.

In a way it makes marketing sense what they did with the XJ6 (ie a more placid, less powerful 600) if they will be releasing the opposite in an 800. It will automatically drive alot of the XJ6 riders with a sportier view into upgrading and probably also attract alot of the FZ6 riders, not to mention put it in direct competition with the other 750's which are increasingly getting good reveiws for being best bang for buck, both giving them a release into that midrange bracket and filling out their lineup pretty nicely.

Actually, look at their MT-01 in Europe... my bet is a v-twin...

Why are you not hoping for it? Any specific reason? What's the last v-twin you rode and what didn't you like about it?

God I would love it if it were a stonkin' 800 twin. But that headlight would have to come off in favor of something less... alien.

My guess is that it's going to be an inline 4, 799 cc, in able to stay true to the all-round, yet still sporty characteristics.

I see... I personally wouldn't call any naked bike an all-around bike (touring on a naked isn't optimal), but I guess it's up to interpretation

Different story if you're talking about the faired versions like the FZ6S, but we're talking about the naked FZ8 here.
