Hey Guys,
As many of you know, I totaled my bike back in September while carving up some mountains with Cali Rider, Wavex, and MtnCarver (my brother). I walked away from the wreck, literally, with only a separated shoulder (different than a dislocation, link). Since then, I have spent 2 months in a shoulder sling and the following 3-4 months doing physical therapy and rehabilitation to get my strength and stability back. While my shoulder is by no means 100%, it felt close enough to try a short ride.

Yesterday I got the opportunity to borrow my brother's FZ6. I started off for a few minutes just riding around our neighborhood at 15-20mph to make sure my shoulder would take some of the pressure needed to counter-steer and brake. I practiced the basics: emergency stops, swerves, etc. This all felt great with no pain, so I proceeded to a 5 minute ride on the regular public streets near my home. Once again no problems.

I didn't want anyone at home to be worried, so I brought her home after that. We were getting ready for dinner and my brother tossed me the keys again and said to meet them there and have some fun. While I obviously am not riding like a maniac, this put a huge smile on my face to get out on a 50mph road and let her rip.

In short, I am back on a bike periodically and know my shoulder can take it again. It's time to go shopping for a new bike this Spring! Can anyone say: Triumph Street Triple R?:drool:

Thanks for all of the support I have gotten on this site. You guys/gals are really a wonderful community to be apart of. Even though I do not have my FZ anymore, I know I'll still drop by here a couple times a week to see what's new with everyone.

Good stuff Rob, glad you are back in the saddle (and just in time for the new season).
Good luck with your new purchase.

Glad you are healing up Rob and I am looking forward to pics when you get the new Triumph!

Thanks Nelly, I can't say my nerves weren't a little shakey getting that bike started. But once I was on my way, it was just like home. Hence the saying, "like riding a bike"

Aww, not that pic again, poor baby looks like she's hurting hanging there like that.

I know I read it, but can you remind me what happened to the bike Rob. An insurance payout, or did you part-it-out??

Once again, good to see you back on 2 wheels.

:)

Way to go HH! Not that I've been injured in a bike crash or know from experience, but it sounds wise that you're easing back into it. You get to re-build confidence and skill while testing your strength without pushing it.

Be sure to keep us posted on your progress, especially when you get the Street Triple!

Glad to hear that you're well enough to take up riding again. At least for short stints anyway. Get fully healed and back on the roads full time soon! :D

nice to hear your back on two wheels....cant wait to see the new ride too, and again.....THANKS for the headlights..they are the favourite part of my bike...

Im a newbile but way to go man... I used my second career of Occupational Therapy as a good excuse to get back in the saddle (licensed)

Im sure you found out in rehab nothing is better than a patient getting back in the saddle...

Good luck with the trip!!!

Pleased to hear you're on the mend Rob, and great to hear you're back in the saddle, take it easy

Looking forward to seeing pics of your new bike.

Ugh...same here about that picture of the old girl hanging...kills me everytime I see it! Even more so because I've got a blue '06 too, so it's like looking at my baby strung up like that.

Rob, glad to hear you've recovered well and are feeling the urge to climb back on a bike! I'm with everyone else...make sure you stop in from time to time and let us get a look at that Triple!

Insurance pay-out and I parted out some of the custom parts that my insurance policy didn't cover (ie: R6 projectors with HID)

Glad you are still as in love with those as I was when I made them. Definitely my favorite mod for the bike and the most time-consuming.

Yeah! Rob! I'm glad to hear you are back in the saddle.

So...FZ6 or Speed Triple??? I was down at the BMW/Triumph shop buying a new tank bag and was chatting with the sales dude. He was pimping the Speed 3 in a big way, and they look great!

Hey Rob, that's great news that you are mobile again. When are we riding? There's a sh*t load of low mileage bikes for sale right now, have you started looking? Or are you set on buying new?

PS- The Redline oil in my RSX still makes the shifting smooth, thanks!
