so yesturday was finally a clear day the roads where dry after some rain, so i uncovered my bike checked it out warmed it up and took it out on a nice ride around highway 37 here in sonoma county california, it was great but i hadnt ridden my bike since ealy december so i jumped on but for some reason i felt "rusty" my breaking, my turn signals, not turning them off after a turn, or hitting my horn by accident i just got my license in august so just rode for 3 and a half months then i slowed down, i was just wondering do you guys who have bin riding longer ever get that feeling like your starting all over again when you havent rode for a while? or is it just me maybe i just need to get some more time on my bike? anyways after 20 minutes into the ride i started to relax so i finished strong i would say, but i just didnt like nervouse feeling..

Miles, miles, miles. the more you do the better you will get. I try to pratice some skill every time I ride. Nothing like a nice 100 mile ride to clear the cob webs.

Not having a lot of time under your belt and taking some time off due to weather will both effect your comfort. The more you ride the more comfortable you'll be and seat time is really where you learn.

So as you get more miles and months in the saddle you'll feel more comfortable and if you do have to take a break from riding due to weather or whatnot, the more miles you have the quicker the readjustment when you get back in the saddle. I ride almost every day, but I notice if I've been off for a week that sometimes it takes a while to get back to basics.

I also have a small collection of riding books such as Keith Code's Twist of the Wrist I and II, so I read through those on days where the weather stinks and then try to work on the methods when I do get back on the bike.

My season starts again in 111 hours : 45 minutes : 31 seconds, - I'll give you an report on my first ride then :) (CAN'T WAIT).

I'm sure I'll feel a bit rusty, - but since I know it in advance, my first ride of the season is always more relaxed.
