FI Changes?

Yamaha made some FI changes I think in 2007 or 2008 to eliminate surging. Can 2006 models be updated? Is it just a matter of having the dealer re-map the FI?

I don't think you can remap the factory computer unless maybe they have a firmware update for it. You would have to ask them but if you're have a problem you might want to do or get a throttle body synchronization. Where is your surging occurring! Is it just at idle. Of coarse check the obvious possibilities like vacuum leaks etc.

In theory, you could get an 07 computer and add the wiring for the oxygen sensor. Then you'd need to weld a fitting for the oxygen sensor into the exhaust. The real question is, does the 07 computer have a different connector for the computer. If the connector is the same, then it would be a fairly easy thing to do.

I don't see any immediate reason why it wouldn't work.

I also don't think that there's much point to doing it. I've ridden the 06 and 07, and didn't see a huge difference.
