F1 Racing coming to Austin!!!!

You have to go. F1 racing is awesome!

Go Mark Webber :aus:

Married with that awesome RedBull car, its a super combination... Them RedBull cars have some real pace.. i'v always like em.

RedBull have a strong team, and I think there gonna give the top runners a proper run for their money... can't wait...

I hope this really happens. I'll be there (I went to the last few races in Indianapolis).

It is sad to think that recently, memories of the involvement (directly or indirectly) of the US with F1 has not been really good (Scott Speed, Indianapolis/Michelin, USF1 team)

Yep, the Indy/Michelin thing was a disgrace...... I think 3 finishers, if I remember correctly....

That was a 6-car race!!!!!!

My memory is not the best, so I had to look for information here:
2005 WOW!!!!!!!
Schumi Ferrari
Barrichello Ferrari
Monteiro Jordan (he seemed to be the only one happy on the podium!!!)
then the other Jordan and the Minardis

That was our (my brother, my dad and I) first trip to a F1 GP ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We took our dad as a surprise. He never knew where he was really going until we pulled into the airport parking and we handed him the airplane ticket and the F1 weekend ticket (that was so nice).
Before all this crap (the race day) we had an excellent time. My dad thanked that there were only 6 cars racing, because the sound of only 6 cars was driving him crazy !!!!!!

We also went the next year (2006), on the first turn half of the cars retired (courtesy of Montoya)!!!!!!

Tilke To Design New Austin Circuit

The new Austin Formula 1 track, which will host the American Grand Prix from 2012, is to be designed by Hermann Tilke, race organisers have announced.

Shortly after revealing its 10-year deal to hold the US event, Austin race promoters Full Throttle Productions have now earmarked a site for the circuit and confirmed that Tilke will be involved.

The exact location of the venue has not been disclosed, but Tavo Hellmund, managing partner of Full Throttle Productions, was quoted as saying by the Associated Press that its was 'more than 700 acres.'

Hellmund also ended speculation about who would design the track by confirming that F1 regular Tilke, the man behind track designs at Istanbul, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Shanghai, and Sepang, will be involved.

Race promoters said the track would be "one of the finest permanent road course facilities in the world. Fans should expect the craftsmanship Tilke is famous for, with a priority placed on green building and a track similar to the great grand prix tracks of previous generations."
