You are correct about stubborn. The mechanic at the local HD shop I go to was complaining that the factory wouldn't listen to concerns that the field was telling them. They only voiced, "Erik" and didn't listen to reason.
Did the bike you ride have the most recent flash? For the '08 R it is the 062. With that flash the bike runs very good. Also ask the owner to try a different pad; EBC or Lyndall are both very good, have much more initial bite, and provide better feel.
I have a set of EBC pads for the rear brake but I've not installed them yet. I think the rear brake is terrible. Completely numb and wooden feeling. I'm hoping the EBCs help.
The bike was a shop demo I could ride in the afternoon. Went on my fav roads here. Like you said ... I think a big deal can be gained from a good radial MC ... the brake has enough stopping power, I only found it to be on-off braking ... no braking, then very hard braking.
Other then that I'm done with this topic, some guy's know everything better (not you hell)... The fact that they said on the last moto GP that Spies had to get used to the extra power and less weight, plus several magazines posted figures about WSBK bikes and 800cc moto GP bikes. Plus WSBK and Moto GP have weight limitations, those bikes already have the minimum allowed weight ... jeez ... I'm just a guy who's just talking out of his ass aperantly ...
