My 2006 Fz6n lost all engine power today when i was out riding.

It was running perfectly for about 3 miles and all of a sudden the engine lost all of its power and I had to turn the key off and then back on to regain power. This happened 3 times on the way back i was just lucky there was nothing behind me.

It feels like the emergency cut off switch has been hit when it dies because all the gauges and lights stay on but there is just nothing from the engine until the key is turned off and back on again.

Has anybody seen this problem before and possibly know how to fix it or do I need a new ignition system?

Any help is much appreciated, thanks!!

Check the side stand cut off switch, and the emergency cut out on the bars.

could also be your TPM. Mines starting cutting out and i have to keep it reved to stop it from stalling unless i switch off and back on. So looks like the tpm (2005 without tpm swap)

thanks for the replies guys.

@DDS I think you might b onto something with the revs

What do mean by TPM?? I'm sorry this could just be me being stupid but i thought TPM was tire pressure monitoring?

I think its the kill switch on the handle bar. I lost the engine, at highway speeds on I-95 twice last year. I replaced the kill switch, after being able to replicate cut off by just pressing on the outside of the killswitch housing.

No problems since replacing it.
