Just spotted what o thought was a smudge on my rear tyre- no glasses on
Touched with my shoe, thought that doesn't feel right- sure enuff- Phillips head- from yesterday as thee is hardly a scuff on it, it's about 2/3 across from the crown
Tyre has started to show a bit. Of squaring so it's not the end of the world, but I go to NZ in 2 weeks I'd kinda liked to have saved the$

Yep, they suck...

BUT, with some effort, Steelman makes a great combo plug/patch commonly used on cars:

Patch and Plug Combo Lead-Wire 1/8 Inch

Amazon.com: STEELMAN JSG381 1/8-Inch Tire Repair Patch/Plug Combo, Box of 25: Automotive

You do have to get the tire off the rim, sand smooth the inside of the tire, but if fully cured properly, is not going anywhere nor will it leak..

.I have used them before without issue...

With that said, my last flat (rear tire), I WISH, was a screw! It was a KEY (like for a pad lock). Yes, it embedded itself in the
tire (about a mile from the house) and by the time I got home, is opened up a slice about 3/4", (un-repairable).
Monday morning quarterbacking, I should have pulled it out right there and limited the size of the puncture...

well we still went out today, I checked the screw, I took it out, air came with it----- so I screwed that little mutha back in.
went to the servo and pumped an extra 4lbs in to it checked it three hours later- no change, so took the bike for a little run to a big bbq day party and music festival and home again----I ll get a new tyre tomorrow - promise!

Sorry to hear about this Adee, what a PITA, I've had one nail and a "shard" of metal in my tyres, they were also towards the outside so unrepairable

Had a nine inch nail last week, too far out from centre line to repair, and due to work schedules had to spend three shifts commuting on the 125. It's not easy cutting through 50mph head winds with only 9hp. Doing 200 miles on £10 of petrol is always good though.

Still, it was sorted in time for the run down to Birmingham yesterday so that was good.

PR4 front and rear now,
worst thing is that it rained and the roads are greasey as, and the tyre is waxy as, so I had to take it pretty easy, ran over a few tram tracks, and got a little squiggly thing going on and the same with painted lines etc.

hopefully it dries out in the next day or two and I can get some scuffing going on.
