Well in my opinion the FZ6 is still the best bike for what I want. One of the most important things for me is commuting, it is perfect for this job. It has enough protection against the wind. It has enough ummph to get out of tricky situations (or just to enjoy :thumbup.
In good weather I take it along the country roads back from my work, OK its 10 minutes longer (on my 45 minute commute) but it is great fun.
It is great for a day out riding, I've never been sadle sore after a days ride.

Now if I was looking for just a play thing, or just a cruiser, or just a commuter or just a touring bike, or just a street bike, I might have chosen something different. But the best thing about the bike is whatever role it's in it does it well.

What are you crazy, of course I don't regret buying it. :thumbup:

No regrets on the FZ6 purchase. Of course, there's lots of bikes I'd like to own. I've have scaled down some in the last year. There's only three bikes in the garage now. Last year at this time there were six. I will be adding a VStrom 1000 this fall but it's only being stored for a buddy of mine in England until he gets here to pick it up. I'll have it until next spring.

My bike was born on August ST of 2007. I have no regrets at all. In my eye's, i was looking for the full faired bikes and they were nice but, i saw the FZ6 and it caught my eye. When you look at the faired bike they look the same to me (well kind of), but the FZ6 had so much opportunity for me to make it they way i wanted it. Originality. The price was low, i love the RED that my fav color. Since then i made the bike to what i wanted it, not just a fully faired bike with little to change. So to get to the point, sky is the limit.

The FZ6 was a bike I had to buy. I always said if someone made an all-around standard machine with a factory fairing (no lower please), fuel injection, adequete power, reasonable seat height, etc. I'd buy a new one. The bike I wanted was the old FZ600 the europeans had for about ten years.
Well the FZ6 is as close as you can get to a standard with fairing. The SV650 tempted me but the faired version had too sport type ergos and carbs. I think.
Some things I would change: better rear suspension, more low end torque, a little less buzz, better seat, about 1" lower seat height, a touring version w/hard bags.
That being said I still say the FZ6 (especially the newer version) is the best all-around "bang-for-your-buck" machine on the market. I could have been tempted by a modern HD sportster if the had a smooth running water cooled v-twin at a competitve price. (I'll be too old when they do that!)

I have gotten that "grass is always greener" twinge of guilt now and then but I know I would feel that way about the FZ6 if I had an R6. It's a natural reaction to wonder "what if". Enjoy your ride man, you made an excellent choice.

I have had plenty of bikes, and they all have their positives and negatives...it just a matter of whether the postives for you are able to get over the negatives...as to whether you like a bike or not.

I own an ducati pantah, and she has heaps of personality, awesome one day, broken the next! but after 15 years i still have her, and love her!

But recently, i decided that as i am getting older, and less flexible, i needed to go for a bike that i could use for everyday use, that i did not have to pay for a chiropactor to fix me after a decent ride!

Enter a 2006 FZ6n...first bike i looked at upon starting my search, purely by chance!

Well what i found was a bike that felt like i had been riding it all my life after 10 minutes.

Great Power - nice and chilled down low for the boring commute to and from work, and heaps up top, when your carving up the twisty's on a sunday.

Neutral handling that holds up to 90% of riding situations well. Nice big comfy seat, great grab rails, seat, and footpeg psotion for pillion, decent sized tryes, yamaha build quality, decent brakes.

The more i ride it, the more i like it...and if you wanna tinker, there are so many bits out there!

Maybe the only thing's i would change, and am in the process of doing, is an aftermarket set of slip on's, a screen (on order), maybe some progessive springs up front, and for pure reasons of vanity...maybe a bellypan, and ducktail for the seat.

But i could leave her as she is, and i would still be happy!

Bloody good value for money, saved $2500 on new, and the bike has only done 8000 km's, and has 11 months of it's factory warranty left on it, with not a scratch in site!

There is so much to like about this bike, i have decided that the FZ6n is the thinking mans sportsbike!

But i find myself everytime i see a Yamaha R6, wishing i had got a R6 instead of the FZ6.

This really depends on what you want from your bike. I sold my R6 2004 two weeks ago and I expect to get new FZ6 next week, as I wrote in the introduction to this forum. So, I did just the opposite of what you are thinking about. If you ask me why, here are some of the answers:

- I don't like riding position on R6, I have 39 years and I am quite big (high and heavy), so I just want to ride without pain in my back and in my hands
- My wife likes riding also and it is quite difficult for the R6 passenger
- I don't need bike to race, I need a bike to have relatively long trips, 100-300km one way. Some weeks ago I travelled 100km away (and 100km back) with my wife with one stop and I had pain in my hands after
- There is no nice way to put cases (bags) on R6 and you might need stuff on your trip

But if you are young and you want to race on the track and you are single, then R6 is probably better choice.

So, maybe I will buy some other bike in the future, but I don't think I am going to get another R type bike. Maybe FZ1, FJR1300 and so on, but not R6, R1, CBR-RR, GSX-R and bikes like that. Basically, my type is sport-touring bike at this moment, not superspot, not touring. Cheers for FZ6!

I have only had mine for a few weeks now so my love afair is only just starting

I test rode a few and like many others have said I prefer the riding position of the FZ and similar makes. I jumped on quite a few actually ( FZ6, FZ1, Z750, SV650, CB600F, CBR600RR and a GSXR600 the later 2 just because I could really) and for me the price, performance & quality combo of the FZ6 won it for me. I got a bit of a bargin from the dealer also:thumbup: Made it even cheaper than riding away on the SV650 which had the lowest listed price here.

Do I regret my 2008 Raven FZ6 purchase? No.
Have I had the grass is greener feeling? Yes.

I’ve owned these bikes in this order.
1983 Honda Ascott VT500, 1990 Yamaha Radian, 1994 Honda Magna, 2000 Kawasaki ZRX-1100, 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan 800, 2003 Suzuki SV1000s.

As you can see, all these bikes are not screamers, and I like the standard look. I’ve been used to the midrange power band, and I always wanted a screamer 600. I had an opportunity to ride a ZX-6r, totally different feeling. No power from 0-6000rpm, then you hit 8000 to redline and it just screams. It was awesome, but the riding position was horrible for me.

My SV1000s, I couldn’t even enjoy the bike because my wrists hurt after short rides, and I went bikeless for a year. It had gobs of torque, but thats about it. I did lots of research and it came down to the Honda 919, FZ1, and FZ6.

I chose the FZ6. (price, insurance, gas mileage). I am still breaking the bike in, not over 7000 rpm, so I haven’t even felt the power yet, I am really hoping that it feels like that ZX-6r or I will be disappointed.

I love the look of the R6, R6s, and R1, but I know I would not be happy with the ergos, price, insurance, etc. I was also thinking that, how often am I really going to use those bikes as they are supposed to be? Probably never, so i'm paying for something I don't need. I am never going to ride over 130mph, or take it to a track so, I think the FZ6 is perfect for me...

I am just hoping that the power band on the fz6 blows me away after I hit 600miles.
