Do you nod/wave to scooters?

I wave at them. Most of the people on them are really old people, and I am amazed that they are out riding period. A guy at work uses one to commute. It is a 600 honda or something, and I am surprised how fast that thing is. He rides it like he stole it. Like someone stated before, 2 wheels is 2 wheels. Kombaya and all of that.

Best I ever heard it put was they bleed just like us, there out there unprotected in a world of cars just like us, they countersteer, the know the cold and wet we feel.
How about this. Even the bicyclist as well.
We all need to stick together. We are up on two and its a dangerous world. Do you think they feel the joy we get from riding? Yep. Do you think they can experince the pain and risk of death we do from riding? Yep.
They are our brothers and sisters. Wave to other riders of single track vehicles.

Hell no, they have no balls and no brains. I love seeing the girls in skirts and tanktops with openface helmets and open toed sandals. people riding around with a bike license when half of them can't even drive a car properly. Same deal, grandma wearing her flower print dress is a classic. I know that for a fact when i see these guys riding around with absolutely no gear you know they no nothing about riding.
They are not riders.
The only ones i respect are they people that are wearing full gear. Because you know they know what they are getting into to some extent.
PS i dont know what its like in other places but you do not need a license to ride a 50cc. Which also happens to be the ones you see the most often. Coincidence? I think not.

I'll wave to anyone on 2, I commuted for a year on a scooter before buying the FZ. I still go on rides with my local club but to tell you the truth I'm selling the scoot as soon as the weather warms as I don't like the ride any more after riding the fz. This is beginning to sound like a riff between the Mods and the Rockers :rockon:
Voted No. In a strange way, I feel kind of embarrassed for the scooter riders when our paths cross. Not that I have anything against them, if opting out to go on two-wheels in traffic why not a real motorcycle.
I would wave to this crossover scooter/speedbike. Afterall it has 680cc. By the looks alone the DN-01 can easily fool me in to believing it is a motorbike.

+1, I'm with UrbanJ on this. They have no idea what they are getting into. Like I mentioned before, here in Vegas, they can legally ride with no gear, no insurance, no license and registration. They usually ride in the extreme right lane of traffic where they just putt along, which ironically can be the most dangerous area to be in. They are putting themelves in the lane and line where the probability for collisons to occur are the greatest. However, I do respect the rare scooter rider who wear proper attire. But they are practically non-exhistent. Besides, myself, I can't even find motorcyclist who wear full gear around here.

I've had the good fortune of traveling for work the last couple years and most of it has been to Barcelona. They have a zillion scooters there (the guy on the tour bus said most per capta in the world). I figure if we had as many scooters here as they have, 4 wheel drivers would start to pay more attention and maybe my chances of getting run over would go down!

It is a motorbike. To me a scooter is a step thru, irrespective of engine size. Anything you have to throw your leg over isn't a scooter.
I don't wave to scooters because the one time I did the kid riding it gave me the middle finger back.
Been to Barcelona, and throughout Spain. From my personal observation, I think I noticed more scooters in Italy than Spain. They were feaking everywhere.
on a another note, does anyone see side-car on street bikes. I have not seen one and i am curious on what difference's there are.

I think there is a huge difference between the large scooters and the 50cc scooters. I have owned a Yamaha Zuma 50cc, a Suzuki Burgman 400cc, and a Honda Silver Wing 600cc. The two larger bikes, other than being an automatic CVT transmission, are basically motorcycles as far as I'm concerned. Treating them as anything less would guarantee bad stuff. The Silver Wing could go over 100 MPH and actually weighed 100 pounds more than the Fizz. So yes, I'll wave to the bigger scooters. The little scoots, in my experience, never wave.

I have to say, although they might not be considered by many here as real "riders", I still wave at the scooters. I just like to let them know that I see them and acknowledge them even though they aren't on what many consider a real motorcycle. Not only that, I live right next door to the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama. I've seen many Soldiers on some of the larger scooters, and believe me, they can get up and go. And since I respect all Soldiers, I make sure that they always get a visible wave. Always.

I'll wave to everyone on two wheels on the highways. In my city, there's only a few scooters, so I'll usually wave to them as well. But in the nearby college town, there's lots of scooters, so I don't wave to them as often - they're mostly noobs who don't understand why I wave to them.

I give a nod or wave to two kinds of scooters - ones with riders wearing appropriate gear so I know they're taking it seriously and the one's I see regularly on my commute that I know are out there in all weather - heck there's one guy I see on a Ruckus in blizzards while I'm in the car. I figure they're the part of the sub-population of riding that I'm most in common with regardless of what they're actually riding on.
Heck yeah I'll wave to anything on two wheels and sometimes three!! I used to get mad when the HD guys would totaly ignore me but it dont bug me anymore. We have all wanted to be cool one time so if it makes scooterboys think they are in fact cool when a "Cool sport bike rider" waves or nods back at them, thats cool! Remember that first wave or nod YOU got?? I do....

Yeah i wave at scooters , two wheels and all that......Besides ive ridden a Majesty and they are nice :thumbup:
