Check out the weld on my FZ6's chain guard tab. Who the hell was working that day? Overall I think the bike is very well made but how did this pass through inspection?

I'd raise a stink over it. We spend hundreds of dollars on gear for safety and it is expected that the bike be structurally sound. I would want it fixed before I took it on the road. To me there is no reason to even chance it.

It gives the bike character. The weld looks decent, it's just ugly.

Yea...I had a friend with a second generation 2006 FZ1 that developed a cracked weld on the main frame just below the gas tank. Apparently, several people have gotten it from popping a wheelie on the 2006 models.

The FZ1 don't have that problem now. As for your issue, I might take that up with the stealership if possible.
