Cracked Frame...

It cost me $50, might have been a little more but the welder is kinda my bud, so I fell like he did me a favor! "Yamaha should have done a recall" is what a bud of mine said, "they cast too thin and try to make stuff too light weight and it gets thin!" I'm gonna ride it and just keep an eye on it!

Sunday 6/22/14 I tried crack for the first time! I rode him 166 miles and the weld still looks the same!

She lives :cheer:

My FZ is back on the road, the rebuild is 99% done.
I still have a few cosmetic details to finish.

I will snap a couple of pics this weekend (if the rain will stop).

One very happy rider back in the saddle after 3 months grounded.

Cheers,
Mac.

Did they beef up at all behind the crack at all or just weld up the crack?

He welded the crack, then boxed in the section to strengthen the area.
I am really pleased with the finish, you can barley see where it's been fixed.

These pics taken when I got the frame back.
If the sun comes out I'll take a few of the whole bike.

Cheers,
Mac.

Ok, got out for a couple hours ride today.
2 hrs in I remembered I was going to take some photos, so I stopped and used the mobile to snap a couple.

Frame looks good, bike running great
Good day on the back roads.

Cheers,
Mac.
