Reading a couple of threads lately got me thinking about the cost of living in the US (US mainly as that is Australia's main comparison and our Exchange Rate is now at parity with the USD) and other countries as well. We talk about tipping and the cost of motorbikes, but what about other things? Here in Australia, some things are:
Minimum Wage = $30,628
My old Retail Job in Hardware Store $37,000
Police Officer $55,000 plus allowances
Mid level Public Service job $55-$60,000
3 bedroom house with yard Rent $480 per week. Buy $450-$500,000
Yamaha FZ8S $13,000
2011 BMW 323i from $63,000
2011 Ferrari 458 Italia from approx $550,000
(Figures in AUD which is 1:1 with USD)
How do these stack up?
