I wear Acu view Oasis contacts. All day, every day (except sleeping). I personally never ride with my visor open unless I have sunglasses or some clear saftey glasses on. I've never had an issue with my eyes drying out, but I always have my eyes covered.

i always wear contacts -air optix usually for months at a time. visor up w/ wrap style sunglasses up to about 75mph then the visor goes down, and have never had a eye drying problem although getting a bee stuck in my helmet once was not the highlight of my day

With my contacts, I only have my visor open just a little - first click - sometimes helps with the visor fogging (I have used "cat-crap" etc, but sometimes get the odd bit of fogging up still).

Also if you are worried about fogging with contacts and the visor closed look into the pinlock system. I purchased the shoei faceshield with the system and usually wear the clear lense. Summer or winter I can't fog the thing.
