ACH Status Update

I posted this thread earlier today trying to find out about the conditions up there..but then the weather was awesome today and I had the day off so i figured I go check it myself...:D so im turning this into ACH status update thread rather than a status update request..

La Canada entrance to ACH is still blocked. Although you can take Sunland off 210 to Oro Vista which leads you to Big Tujunga Canyon Rd. First few miles suck but once you get past the traffic and crappy asphalt it gets much better. So I took AFH to Upper Big Tujunga to 2 all the way to newcombs....

Lots of sand patches and some water running across the road on Big Tujunga. Once you get to Angeles Forest Highway, occasional sand patches but generally good ride. Upper big Tujunga was in its usual condition, mostly clean but some gravel. ACH was great past Upper Tujunga towards newcombs. Couple spots had gravel but that happened even before the fires. So except the crazy fire damage on the sides, the road is in good condition and rideable. You gotta watch for water in some turns and big rocks that fell on the road as usual.

Overall, this route I took is pretty enjoyable ride. And apparently ACH is open all the way down to Mt Wilson altough there is no way out if you keep going that way :D

this is the route I took and few pics from today:

Thanks McLovin, I usually use that same route. I was planning on continuing through to Wrightwood tomorrow, but apparently it's closed (in addition to the lower section).

I'll stay on Angeles Forest Hwy past 9 mile (:(), continuing on backroads before linking up with the 2 again in Wrightwood so my friend can continue to his camping trip in Joshua Tree.

I'll post up a thread later this weekend to start planning an ACH ride from Sunland to Newcombs (unless you beat me to it:D).
