Brand new FZ6 S2 .. damaged paint..

@Motogiro; I don't understand your post. It's a brand new FZ6 S2 from 2009/2010. If i understand correctly your saying that the original tank on my bike has been damaged and re-painted? Resulting in a bad paint job by the dealer or importer of the bike?

Okay...you got me. Yes I'm being a Butt! I sort of get peeved when I hear of people getting less than what they pay for knowing that the technology works but the specs get tossed to the wind and we end up with a problem. I've seen extremely hard environmentally friendly finishes and I don't believe that this should be the first thought as to why you're having this experience.

Yes! Go to them and say "My bike has been damaged and re-painted? Resulting in a bad paint job by the dealer or importer of the bike."

Yes! you've received a product that you've paid for as new and it has some how been compromised!
Get'em Grrrr!! Grrrr!

@Motogiro: Awesome peptalk! I'll get them tomorrow :rant:

On my to call list for tomorrow:
- An independent Yamaha dealer;
- Direct call to Yamaha NL;
- Direct call to Yamaha <insert random country> in case Yamaha NL can't help me;
- My 'own' Yamaha dealer.. and I won't take no for an answer!

I'll be sure to post back here as soon as I get all the calls done :rockon:

So.. first I called another independent Yamaha dealer explaining my problem. He says he has had a couple of bikes with the same problem. He took the bikes to the painter and called Yamaha NL, guarantee department, and explained the issue. Yamaha payed all the costs involving the painter. On a side note I asked him to check the production date of my bike. It's the 2009 model delivered in Holland on the 17th of april 2010. I'm stil not sure of it's build in 2009 or 2010.. but oh well :)

Then.. I called Yamaha NL, guarantee department, and explained my problem. They indicate that they normally don't deal directly with customers but he can understand my troubles (well it took me some trouble to find their non-listed phone number.. so we're even! ;)). He explained that my dealer has to call him and explain the issue. If the paint is the problem then Yamaha NL will pay for the paintjob. So I thank the man for his awesome help..

After that.. I called my dealer telling him what I learned from my other two calls. He says it's very strange Yamaha NL would even think about paying the costs and even stranger that another Yamaha dealer got their costs payed. I explained to him that I insist he call Yamaha NL again, paint my tank and let Yamaha NL pay for the costs. He said he would start by calling Yamaha NL and he'll get back to me tomorrow.

Seems like we're making progress :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:

Btw, he told me the paint job would cost € 150,00 for the tank. That's not that bad in my opinion. So if I ever scratch my tank and it's my own fault I won't feel that bad about it. :BLAA:

I'll let you guys know more tomorrow

waterborne paints have absolutely nothing to do with clear coat. Not to mention there is absolutely no difference between a properly applied water basecoat and properly applied solvent basecoat.... the water or solvent is just used to move the pigment from the gun to the object, then evaporates away... completely, before being covered by the clear

get a bodyshop to polish it up and consider putting the clear 3m film in the spots?

VICTORY!!! ..Finally!

Called my dealer *again* today and he told me that Yamaha would pay for part of the paintjob.. i replied with a simple "what??" and he said that Yamaha would pay for the entire paint job. :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :rockon:

So for anyone having this issue, now you know the sollution :)

Gonna call back tomorrow yet again to make an appointment. It will get polished and painted with a clear coat. For extra protection I'll also stick on the Techspec Tankgrips! :thumbup:

Free paint job! :Flip:

Good job keeping after it. :thumbup: It seems these days more and more people in business are either lazy, incompetent, or dishonest. It can wear you out sometimes looking out for yourself....

"Free paint job!"
That's great. To bad you had to go through all of this.
I respectfully submit that you are not getting a free paint job. You are getting the paint job you paid for when you bought the bike. To add to that you had this whole headache. I am glad they are finally working this out. Personally I would never again use this dealer for even a keychain.

Actually the paint job is not free. He has already paid for a good paint job.
He just did not get one the first time.

Are you kidding me. I "Free" paint job? I would not accept anything less that a new Factory painted tank! This is a new bike. Do you really want a body shop taking it apart and painting it. I would not put those Techspec Tankgrips on either. That would void the warranty on the new tank.
