Borrow Power Commander in SF bay area

Surging when coming from off throttle started to bother me after last couple spirited rides. Although I've tried to be gentle and smooth with throttle it was annoying.

I'm investigating options how to help it. I've got throttle bodies synced, adjusted throttle cables slack and throttle free play, adjusted chain. Still the same.

I've seen on forum some are using G2 throttle tammer, other recommends PCV.

I'm wonder if anyone in San Francisco bay are have PCV which is mapped for stock 2008 FZ6 and would be willing to lend it for test ride ? :cheer:

Any other ideas how I can try to aid abrupt throttle ?

I just installed a Bazzaz fuel controller, if a PC V install is anything like mine was, I doubt anyone will want to remove theirs to let you try it. It's "kind of" a pain.

Well, I remember the throttle being twitchy on roll off, but you can tame it with proper throttle control. Yes, it takes practice, but since you enjoy spirited rides, when you do finally upgrade to a SS, you'll be better on the throttle than anyone that isn't paid.

And honestly, it isn't all that bad compared to anything without a slipper clutch.

Yes, i was suspecting when sending this post it's going to be long shot. I'm not sure how hard is to get PC into bike - according to instructions it's "only" lifting tank and disconnecting 4 plugs and connecting them to PC. But I agree it's more hassle than worth it but asking never hurts.

Agreed - learning control is best way to solve it. In my case after 9 months of riding every day (commuting on week days + longer trips on weekends) I didn't improved much :/ I don't have this kind of issues on my wife's ER-6n but that might be because er-6n have less powerful engine so it might be easier to control.

Yeah, it's the engine brake issue. Generally bikes making 80+ hp have a back-torque limiting clutch. The FZ6 doesn't. So the only real solution to the issue is to put one of those in. I don't even want to know the cost on that, lol.

So, a power commander, or the like, or a throttle tamer are about the only other solutions. Pulling the clutch a hair to simulate a slipper clutch, or shifting higher in the revs also seems to help.

I always had some issue with it until I got a monster 696 with a slipper clutch. As long as you don't slam on/off too quickly in a turn and ride at 80%, the bike isn't going to do anything too crazy. Just a little uncomfortable feeling.
